Some fun facts about my special flower: the hibiscus.

• The hibiscus flower is a beautiful tropical flower; they have long been the flower that signifies the beauty of the Hawaiian Islands because all the girl hula dancers have a big hibiscus flower behind their ears.

• In 1988, the yellow hibiscus became the official state flower of Hawaii, hoever the red hibiscus is the most popular, which you’ll see in older postcards and photos.

• The hibiscus flowers only last a few hours once the bloom opens so if you would like to enjoy fresh hibiscus flowers you will need to grow them yourself.

Hi my name is Didi. My favorite color is pink. I grew up on a beautiful farm in the Netherlands with my little brother. I love flowers: tulips, lilies and orchids. Especially the colorful flower called hibiscus. When I grow up I would love to have my own greenhouse with vegetables and some exotic flowers. It would be great if my greenhouse would be on a big farm with chickens, sheep, horses and my own peach and apple trees. This way I can take long walks on the farmland and say hello to the animals and the trees every morning!. My girlfriends Samara, Angelie and Catherine look walking in nature too. When our parents took us all on a summer trip to Hawaii we hiked in the mountains. It was great! We saw beautiful waterfalls and amazing flowers. When we were down on the beach again we saw surfers catching big waves. It was really cool!

Do you have a favorite place you love visiting?
